Protein Puffs Mozzarella Sticks
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- 1 Cup Crushed Margherita Pizza Protein Puffs
- 2 Eggs
- 6-10 Sticks of Mozzarella Cheese
- 1/2 Cups Can Crushed Tomatoes
- 1 tsp Basil Pesto
- Oil to Fry
- Begin by placing the protein puffs in a food processor and blitzing them until they turn into crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs together.
- Take a mozzarella stick and dip it into the egg wash, ensuring it is fully coated.
- Next, coat the mozzarella stick with the protein crumbs. Repeat this process by dipping it back into the egg wash and then into the crumbs again. Repeat for all the mozzarella sticks.
- Once all the mozzarella sticks are coated, place them in the freezer for 15 minutes to firm up.
- While the mozzarella sticks are in the freezer, heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to a temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Carefully place the coated mozzarella sticks in the hot oil and cook them for approximately 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese starts to slightly ooze out of the breading and they turn golden brown.
- While the mozzarella sticks are cooking, prepare the sauce by mixing crushed tomatoes and basil pesto in a bowl, creating a flavorful sauce.
- Once the mozzarella sticks are cooked to perfection, remove them from the oil and drain them on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
- Serve the crispy mozzarella sticks alongside the tomato-basil pesto sauce.
